USC Upstate Esports – Campus Gaming Community at USC Upstate

A varsity-level collegiate esports lounge with high-end PCs and competitive programming. Located within the Health Education Complex, Room 1104, on USC Upstate’s campus, the institution inaugurated its esports facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in March 2022. This 1,600-square-foot space was designed to galvanize gaming culture and provide a central hub for esports activities.

Outfitted with 45 Alienware gaming stations, each rig boasts an 11th-generation Intel Core i9 processor, 32 GB RAM, a 1 TB hard drive, and NVIDIA RTX 3090 graphics—delivering premium-level performance for competitive and casual use. The lounge supports both PC-based multiplayer gaming and a console area, ensuring versatility and accessibility for all players.

Open to players of all skill levels, the venue combines social gaming with varsity-level competition. Students can casually drop in, hang out with friends, or try out for varsity esports teams. The varsity lineup includes League of Legends, Valorant, and Rocket League, with plans to expand to additional titles in the near future. The program launched as a club in Spring 2022 before transitioning to varsity status in Fall 2022.
