IU East Esports Arena – Richmond, IN, USA

Indiana University East created its first varsity esports program in 2021, complete with newly developed arena space powered by Alienware PCs supporting growing team competition. The esports arena occupies a recently upgraded suite in Springwood Hall, housed within the Office of Campus Life. It’s branded with team graphics and serves as both a practice space and competition hub for the Red Wolves esports program.
The arena includes 22 gaming stations equipped with Alienware PCs, PlayStation 5 consoles, Xboxes, and Nintendo Switches—open to students for both casual gaming and varsity practice.
IU East fields seven varsity esports teams competing in titles like Overwatch 2, Super Smash Bros., Fortnite, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Valorant. The Red Wolves recently transitioned from NACE to the Eastern Collegiate Athletics Conference (ECAC), expanding their competitive reach to include traditional sports titles such as EA Sports FC, NBA 2K, MLB The Show, and Madden.
The program has also connected with Pacers Gaming, allowing student-athletes to tour the professional facility and compete in NBA 2K matches—an opportunity that inspired growth and helped shape the design of their own arena space.
In summary, IU East’s Esports Arena is a compact yet dynamic campus esports facility—designed for varsity competition, casual access, academic community-building, and professional partnerships that enrich the student gaming experience.
