UWG’s Game Room is a vibrant campus gaming hub featuring a blend of esports and recreation. The Game Room is open to all students, faculty, and staff with a valid UWG ID, offering an array of entertainment that ranges from air hockey, billiards, table tennis, and foosball to a variety of card and board games as schedules allow. It also features modern video gaming options––including Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, and a new dedicated esports arena—making it a versatile campus space for informal gatherings and student events.
The esports segment of the Game Room includes ten high-performance Alienware gaming PCs powered by 11th Gen Intel Core i9‑11900F processors, RTX 3080 graphics cards, 64 GB DDR4 RAM, and fast 1TB NVMe SSDs. Console offerings include PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch systems. The PC lineup supports popular competitive titles such as League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Dota 2, Smite, Brawlhalla, Hearthstone, Call of Duty: Warzone, Valorant, Fortnite, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, while the consoles include hits like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and FIFA 22.
The Game Room is a central venue for UWG’s growing esports and gaming community. University Recreation hosts free-play sessions, intramural tournaments, and casual leagues. Student-led groups, including the UWG Gaming & Esports Club and themed communities such as African American Gamers United, organize events, game nights, and live competitions in the space.
While UWG is actively building its varsity esports program—with teams under development for titles like League of Legends, Overwatch 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Valorant—the Game Room remains the grassroots heart of campus esports activity, serving casual gamers, clubs, and emerging varsity contenders alike.
