UND offers dual-purpose spaces: the Nexus lounge for recreational gaming and a state‑of‑the‑art varsity facility supporting competitive collegiate play and high‑school invitational events. Opened in spring 2023, UND’s cutting-edge $1.2 million Esports Facility occupies a sleek, 3,000-square-foot space in Swanson Hall. Moving far beyond cramped practice rooms, this facility now features three dedicated zones—one each for practice, competition, and classroom-style coaching—as well as a fully equipped broadcast studio and a relaxed lounge space, complete with plush gaming chairs and a big-screen TV.
This new home has become much more than a training ground; students describe it as a true esports haven. One shared how the sleek setup, vibrant branding, and comfortable lounge gave the space a welcoming “home base” feel.
As the vibrancy of UND’s campus gaming scene evolves, the facility also fosters varsity-level growth. Student-athletes can support varsity, junior varsity, and developmental teams, while club and intramural players benefit from the original recreational Nexus space—leaving the new facility free for structured competition.
