Esports at UGA (University of Georgia) – Athens, GA, USA

UGA’s Esports club is a powerhouse within collegiate gaming. At the University of Georgia in Athens, Esports at UGA stands as one of the fastest-growing student organizations, now including over 2,000 members. Despite its size and competitive success—including two national championships in 2023 and 2024—the club currently operates without a dedicated esports facility, relying on personal equipment and shared meeting spaces to support its programs.
The organization is housed under Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, where faculty—most notably Professor Sun Joo “Grace” Ahn—provide academic guidance and support as the club pushes to secure funding for proper infrastructure. Their efforts are backed by a crowdfunding campaign aiming to secure essential equipment like gaming stations, chairs, headsets, and webcams so that students have a space to practice, grow, and compete on campus.
Esports at UGA maintains an active online presence via Twitch, Instagram, X, and a Discord community, fostering both competitive spirit and social inclusion among members from all skill levels.
In essence, Esports at UGA is a thriving, student-led esports community fueled by passion, growth, and ambition—working toward the future goal of establishing its own high-tech arena at the University of Georgia.
