UT’s (University of Texas at Austin) flagship esports space—open to students and public—with top-tier hardware and organized events. Built through a deep partnership with Dell Technologies and housed in the heart of the Texas Union, the Alienware Longhorn Esports facilities bring immersive, high-performance gaming to the UT campus.

The journey began in August 2022, when the Alienware Longhorn Esports Lounge opened on the main floor. This sleek new space features Aurora R13 desktops, Alienware X and M series laptops, and a multiplayer console area—all available to students for casual play and competitive warm-up sessions. Students tagging it “the go-to spot on campus for gaming enthusiasts… tournaments and prizes… meet and connect with fellow gamers”.

In October 2023, the program expanded dramatically with the unveiling of the Alienware Longhorn Esports Arena in the renovated Texas Union Underground. Spanning approximately 3,400 square feet, the arena includes 43 Alienware gaming stations, a varsity practice room, production studio, console zone, and comfortable viewing area. Combined, the lounge and arena now offer 50+ gaming stations, creating a full-scale esports ecosystem on campus.

These facilities serve as the heart of Longhorn Gaming, the university’s largest student-run gaming organization, offering both structured competition and casual play. The strategic investment reflects UT’s commitment to esports, positioning Longhorns as emerging competitors and industry leaders.

UT provides competitive pricing and access for gaming sessions. Hourly rates for students run as low as $3.50, with flexible passes and membership options available. The lounge and arena are both open to students and community members with valid IDs, and reservations are available for clubs, events, or broadcasts.

The spaces double as both a social lounge and a training ground—with Discord-driven community access, scheduled tournaments, and a campus-wide role in boosting esports culture at UT.
