EZONE Esports & Gaming – University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, WI, USA
A modern esports space integrated within the campus rec center. Launched in February 2021, EZONE is situated inside the Recreational Eagle Center (REC) on campus and serves as a dedicated hub for competitive play, casual gaming, and community interaction. Built to meet rising demand, the lounge blends high-performance PC rigs with console, VR, and streaming amenities in a bright, welcoming environment.
The facility features 24 Alienware Aurora R12 PCs, 4 console stations (Xbox Series X, PS5, Nintendo Switch), and a selection of Oculus Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3 VR headsets in addition to a streaming room and lounge viewing area. UWL built EZONE with flexibility in mind—supporting both recreational users and organized competition through sport club leagues and intramural-style tournaments.
EZONE is part of UWL’s recreation services and open to students during academic terms: Mon–Fri 3 PM–11 PM and Sat–Sun noon–10 PM. Access is included in campus recreation fees for enrolled students, while visitors can purchase day passes or memberships ($8/day, $25/month, $65/semester, $120/academic year, or $145/calendar year).
Since opening, EGZONE has welcomed thousands of players—more than 7,600 individuals have used the space, and it’s frequently praised as the only dedicated gaming lounge of its scale in the La Crosse region. It hosts regular events like Rocket League or Super Smash tournaments, field trips, and private reservations, with staff support for group coordination and guest engagement. UW‑La Crosse emphasizes inclusivity: policies require under-16 guests to be supervised, a signed waiver for young players, and adherence to respectful, safe community standards within the lounge environment.
