Lake Area Technical College (LATC) boasts a dynamic and rapidly expanding esports program, officially operating as a varsity-level offering embedded within student life and athletics. Held in a purpose-built esports arena adjacent to the student center, the program welcomes gamers of all levels—from first-time competitors to seasoned strategists—with full access to live broadcasts, coaching support, tournament eligibility, team jerseys, and even potential scholarships and financial aid rebates.
Students can also gain hands-on experience through roles as Esport Support Specialists, serving as event coordinators, managers, producers, and more—blending academic learning with esports operations and media.
Competitive activity is thriving: LATC fields teams in games like Super Smash Bros. and Rainbow Six Siege, with recent seasons filled with thrilling victories, regional matchups, and playoff pushes. Matches are regularly streamed live via LATC’s Twitch channel and hosted on campus at Door 2A.
