Jacks Esports Lounge – South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD, USA

A grassroots PC gaming lounge supporting both casual students and club-level competition. Located in the lower level of the Enrollment Services Center, adjacent to recreation & fitness administration, the Jacks Esports Lounge is SDSU’s centerpiece for gaming culture on campus. Opened in early 2023, it reflects a long-awaited commitment to esports and student recreation alike.

This welcoming hub offers 12 Alienware gaming PCs, each outfitted with Titan gaming chairs, plus popular console options including Xbox®, Nintendo Switch™, and Oculus VR headsets. The spacious environment also features multiple big-screen TVs and plenty of seating, making it ideal for both serious practice and relaxed group play.

Built with inclusivity in mind, the lounge welcomes students of all gaming backgrounds—from first-time players to esports competitors. It’s available at no extra cost to SDSU students, embodying the university’s ethos of accessible student wellbeing.

Membership and leadership in the SDSU eSports Club, one of South Dakota’s largest student-run gaming organizations, thrive through the lounge. Membership has burgeoned to around 300 students, diving into titles like League of Legends, Rocket League, CS:GO, Valorant, Overwatch, Super Smash Bros., Call of Duty, and Rainbow Six Siege.
