South Dakota’s statewide free all-ages esports event, hosted annually for high school & community gamers

Launched in fall of 2024, the SoDak Circuit is the first free, all‑ages esports tournament in South Dakota, bringing competitive gaming to the heart of the Midwest. Organized by SDN Communications and its member-owned providers, this tournament is as much about community connection as it is about game play—spanning generations, skill levels, and state lines. The inaugural event, hosted at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, drew more than 750 competitors and spectators. Games included Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Fortnite, Rocket League, and more. The format featured tournament brackets by age group, live match viewing on big screens, and casual free-play stations—creating a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere for all gamers.

The second edition is scheduled for October 11, 2025, returning to the same venue, with details on new games, registration, and expanded opportunities set to roll out later this year. Built around the launch of esports as a sanctioned sport in South Dakota schools (2024–25), the SoDak Circuit serves as both a competitive platform and a bridge—reaching into schools, families, and tech communities across the region. Beyond gaming, it showcases the state’s fiber-optic network capabilities and introduces esports as a promising gateway to tech careers and digital innovation. Marketing Manager Hannah Boquet, key to organizing the event, summed it up: “We’re thrilled… to provide a welcoming environment for gamers of all ages to come together, compete and connect.
