Ole Miss Esports Club, University of Mississippi – Oxford, MS, USA

The University of Mississippi is launching its esports program with competitive teams and student engagement initiatives. Ole Miss Esports started as a student club in 2017 and swiftly evolved into a robust university-wide program by 2019, anchored at the Payne Family Esports Facility in the E.F. Yerby Center—a real competitive gaming arena named after generous donors who propelled the program to the next level.
Today, this community isn’t just about play—it’s about excellence. With roughly 300 active members across both casual and competitive styles, the League of Legends team ranks No. 3 nationally, Rocket League is top 10, and Omega Strikers lands in the top 25. Plus, Ole Miss is one of just nine schools in the NACE Division I Pilot Program—think of it like the NCAA for esports.
What really sets them apart is the combination of community vibes and institutional support. LanShark tournaments and the Esports Egg Bowl rivalry with Mississippi State bring the energy, while interdisciplinary esports minors, scholarships, and research projects amplify both passion and purpose.
In short, Ole Miss Esports combines elite competition, strong support, and academic integration in a standout college esports experience.
